Okay, I have to set the scene here: I work as a writing tutor, so my “office” is really the Writing Center, which is a smallish room with a two-person table, a bookshelf, a filing cabinet, a couple floor lamps, and a puffy green loveseat. I usually sit facing the loveseat, because that also faces the door to the Writing Center.
One of my friends-slash-former-colleagues came to visit me at work. Rather than casually pop her head in the doorway, like she usually does, she paused in the hallway, started running at full speed, and launched herself (like a freaking pole vaulter) at the green couch. She hit it so hard her entire body bounced up and then crashed back down onto the cushions.
Then calm as you please she sat up, brushed her hair off her face, and said, “Hi!”

This situation makes me want to pull my hair out. From Think Progress’s Tara Culp-Ressler:
On Friday afternoon, the Associated Press ran a story about a young woman in Washington state who alleges that her high school’s officials failed to protect her from a 16-year-old boy who raped her on school property, and even allowed the boy to remain in the same classroom with her after her guardian reported she was being harassed by him. The school continues to deny most of her claims, and she is seeking at least $400,000 in damages.
In its headline about the story, the AP chose to characterize the encounter — which took place in a bathroom at the high school — as “restroom sex.”
